Welcome to the introductory course on Wetland Conservation and Management in India. This course presents a basic understanding of wetlands, their values and services, wise use of wetlands, clarity on principles of integrated management planning for wetlands including sectoral coordination and wetland governance.
Who is this course for?
This self-paced and interactive online course is targeted at general audience including youths who are interested in wetlands and want to understand the aspects of wetland conservation and management. The course is also suitable for wetland site managers, forest frontline staff, members of State/Union Territory Wetland Authority, District Wetland Committee, Wetland Mitras (friends of wetlands), and NGOs.

Completing the course and the assessments would take about 3 hours in total.

The training-kit is intended to provide standardized yet customizable resource material for trainers to conduct training for government officials and other stakeholders who will be involved in implementation of wetlands rejuvenation programme. The kit is dynamic and will be updated after feedback. Currently, the kit comprises of five modules. The introductory module provides the goal and purpose of the programme and modalities of implementation. It also provides guidance on how to structure the workshops, conduct sessions and obtain feedback. The following four modules are each dedicated to the four stages of the programme. To encourage states and trainers to customise the presentations with state specific case studies, the ppts of the modules have also been provided along with the pdfs.
