Glaw Tuwi, also known as Glaw Lake (located at 27.69N & 96.45E), is a natural freshwater wetland situated at an elevation of 1168m. The footshaped wetland is 18km away from the nearest settlement, Wakro, and has a perimeter of 5.12 km spanning over an area of 128.98 ha. The
wetland sustains significant populations of floral species like Dalbergia sissoo, Duabanga grandiflora, Pterospermum acerifolium,
Actinodaphne obovate, Adina cordifolia, Ailanthus excelsa, Bombax ceiba, etc and faunal speceis like clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa),
Eastern hoolock gibbon (Hoolock hoolock), red goral (Naemorhedus baiyell), Asiatic black bear (Ursus thibetanus), golden cat (Catopuma
temminckii), and sun bear (Helarctos malayanus). Several of these species are globally threatened, including clouded leopard (VU), Eastern
hoolock gibbon (EN), red goral (VU), Asiatic black bear (VU), and sun bear (VU). It is a sacred lake, especially revered by the Mishmi tribe of
Arunachal Pradesh. The wetland buffers water received from rainfall and inflowing streams and contributes to the regime of the Kamlang River.
